SsYiNnCk

SsYiNnCk is a contemporary dance work that addresses the value of sports-based practices in society over artistic endeavours. It aims to bridge the difference between athleticism and artistry in a culmination of bodily exhaustion utilising methods of absurdity, repetition and even comedy.

This project underwent its first development in July 2025 where it was presented in the University of Melbourne’s student run arts festival, MUSE.

An excerpt from the program:

“3 performers embody the essence of a competitive, rule-based sport in a polished and glazed pursuit of uniformity. Absurdity encroaches as they attempt to synchronize, working in a harmonious state of identicality. The line between artistry and competitivity is narrow. Their routine repeats, reconstructs and dismantles accumulating in an image of decaying unison.”
